Hydrate Everyday

Face it, every day we need to pay attention to our bodies and make sure we are hydrating – So Hydrate Everyday!

Pickleball players seem to fall into one of these two categories; home (neighborhood activities) or traveling.

Are you home, creating your own active options within your neighborhood?

Throughout the world we are facing different realities as it relates to getting out and being active. Perhaps your neighborhood is “open” for activities, social interactions, maybe some pickleball play. There is also a strong possibility your neighborhood pickleball is still locked down and you’re forced to “find” non-pickleball ways to get yourself out and about; walking, bicycling anything to keep moving and stay in shape. If this is you and you’re out of your normal pickleball routine, I wanted to remind you – you still need to hydrate.

I live in Southern California, and currently the weather is hot – breaking records. So even though I’m not competing in any recent tournaments I am playing with a small group of players, exercising on my own and loving my long, early-morning walks. I can get good and sweaty just power walking, ha!

Are you in beast mode, free to travel to pickleball tournaments?

I have been competing in pickleball at the Pro level for 11 years now. In fact, we did not have a “pro” division back then—it was the 5.0 Skill Level. So, I have been around pickleball “forever” it seems!

For those of you that compete in tournaments, you know that this sport’s competition is unlike any other. You actually compete all day long. As you keep winning, you have to keep exerting high levels of energy, focus, and stamina to make it through the finals—which could be at 9 PM when you started your first round at 8 AM.

When it comes to pickleball tournaments, long days of social play, and especially hot weather, hydration needs to be a high priority for any pickleball athlete.

Home or Beast Mode (free to travel) – YOU NEED TO HYDRATE EVERYDAY!

Over the years I have used numerous hydrations helpers—mostly powdered forms of electrolytes and vitamins that I add to my water jug. I’m talking about brands like Gatorade, Powerade, Nunn, Emergen-C, Zipfizz and more.

But recently, I found Jigsaw Health’s Electrolyte Supreme and Pickleball Cocktail. Through some trials, I’ve found that this concoction works better for my body by preventing muscle cramps, keeping me hydrated and improves my energy levels and focus throughout the day— these easy to use supplements are what I now recommend to other pickleball players and my students.  “Finally, a cocktail you should drink at 7 AM”—so clever!

Jigsaw Health’s owners and employees truly love pickleball and play all the time. Because of this, they’ve created a product line that caters specifically to pickleball players—how cool is that! The pickleball product line includes the pickleball cocktail (link), the electrolyte supreme (link), and MagSoothe (link). You can use my coupon code ‘LUCORE10’ at checkout on www.jigsawhealth.com for $10 off.

Helpful Trick: I even add fruit to my water throughout the day to help with hydration and absorption!

Of course, I had to do my due diligence and make sure that I wasn’t just putting chemicals or random ingredients into my body. But I’m happy to report that Jigsaw’s products are free of any preservatives, artificial colors, flavorings, and non-essential additives. In addition, many are sugar-free with zero caffeine added. And yes, I like the flavors with my favorite being the Berry-Licious.

Did you know there are two types of muscle cramps?

That’s right. If you start cramping during a game, that’s a sign your body is low in potassium. If you cramp up in the middle of the night, that’s a sign your body is low in magnesium.

As I’ve gotten older (hello senior pro, LOL), I’ve been more deficient in magnesium, so I’ve opted for Jigsaw’s MagSoothe before bedtime to help reduce my occasional calf or foot cramps throughout the night.

So be sure to stay hydrated—drink up, before, during, and after your pickleball match!

  1. Jennifer,
I am a avid pickleball player living in very hot and humid South Florida.
I have been using the jigsaw products for the last 6 months and recently added the Pickleball Cocktail to my pre pickleball morning routine!
The products are outstanding and have really helped me with cramping and hydration!
