I Wanna Dink With Somebody Video – Behind the Scenes
I just love this catchy tune and video!
You may have seen this video making the rounds on social media early April 2020, if not get ready to be entertained for 3.5 minutes, and if you’ve seen it before, can you name all 61 players who participated? Watch and then read the BEHIND THE SCENES below.
So you’re probably first thinking, Who is that singer?
That would be Ashley Leroux, the Business Development Manager for Jigsaw Health. Their website shares that Ashley grew up singing along to Whitney, Mariah, Shania, among many others for inspiration. When Ashley was 6 years old, her older brother asked her, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Ashley replied without hesitation, “An actress slash singer slash comedian.” Mission Accomplished! Second, you may be thinking who thinks up a Whitney Houston parody song about pickleball?
Those lyrics are so great! That would be both Patrick Sullivan and Ashley Leroux. Patrick holds the big title – CEO & Co-founder of Jigsaw Health and together they are a great team.
Ashley shared: “My favorite line is one that RJ came up with… “I’m keeping score on a piece of toast”. I LOL every time I hear it”
To make this idea work, Jigsaw reached out to 61 fun pickleball players and asked them to perform parts of the skit and submit their video. From these 180 video clips, their team put it all together – phew! now that’s a puzzle. Ashley shared:
“When Patrick and I decided to do this pickleball-themed musical parody to Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody”, I got together virtually with our sound engineer RJ to collaborate. We started a Google Doc that we could both make edits to, and began writing the lyrics together in real-time. It’s amazing what we can do with technology these days… it was like we were in the same room collaborating together!”

What a great video. Covid has shown a light on the many other talents that pickleball players have, the sense of fun this game inspires and community!

I had so Much fun figuring of what part of the song to do – how to do it – couldn’t remember the words – and then loved seeing how everyone contributed. The song is now playing in my head constantly and I smile every time. So happy to be part of this fun loving family of Pickleball lovers and addicts.
