Here is part two of the fun had at the International Pickleball Tournament 2015! (In case you missed it, here is Part One). Feel free to share this with your pickleball friends.
In September over 130 total participants from nine different countries and three continents took part in the first International Pickleball Tournament in Madrid, Spain. The countries represented were:
- United States
- Canada
- England
- Wales
- France
- Spain
- Holland
- India
- Singapore
- Thailand
As a player, it was such an interesting environment because as you walked around the courts you heard all different languages and accents as people talked and cheered. I love hearing accents – something different then we usually hear on the court. Of course I have to laugh because I think everyone has an accent except me. For fun, I took some quick videos of various players sharing with me why they love pickleball. I thought this would be fun to share with YOU. I asked players outside the United States to share on video, and if I had made more time I should of also asked the US players – especially the 12 players from Tennessee, US because they too had great accents, Ha Ha – love their twang and Y’all.
Also included at the end of this video, is a song that Ken Porter of Arizona, USA sung at our tournament dinner banquet. This singing was spontaneous and lead by Ken who had followed up Tennessee group singing their song… (Which I did not video, bummer!) You can see everyone dressed up and enjoying themselves – wonder who you can recognize. The night was festive with wonderful Spanish food and pickleball conversation with new friends. And YES lots of cheers too!
Want to join the fun next year? Mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual International Tournament which is tentatively scheduled for the September 17 and 18, 2016 in Madrid, Spain.
